WASHINGTON, May 7 /Christian
Newswire/ -- Faith and Action, America's only Christian
missionary outreach to government officials located on Capitol Hill,
Washington, DC, will hold a news conference in front of the U.S.
Supreme Court tomorrow, Thursday, May 8, at 4:00 PM, to announce its
national effort to enlist support for a National Ten Commandments
Day.
Faith and Action is the sponsor of the National Ten Commandments
Project which presents beautiful stone artwork tablets of the Ten
Commandments to elected and appointed officials, asking them to
"display and to obey" the Great Words of Sinai. The group also
confers the National Ten Commandments Leadership Award on those who
use their stations of influence to promote the principles espoused
in the Ten Commandments.
Faith and Action is holding an open house for pastors and Christian
leaders, May 7 - 9, at its headquarters, the site of a controversial
stone monument of the Ten Commandments in the facility's front
garden immediately opposite the U.S. Supreme Court. The District of
Columbia government had initially threatened Faith and Action with
fines of $300 per day until the sculpture was removed, but later
relented and ruled the display was protected under the First
Amendment.
