Newswire/ -- For more than 40 years, Georgia Right to Life (GRTL) has
sponsored the Georgia March for Life. This year's event on Friday, January 20,
will begin at 12 noon with a memorial service at Liberty Plaza, followed by a
silent march at 1:00 p.m. on the streets of Atlanta. An additional element, the
Georgians Ending Abortion Rally, has been added to this year's event and will
take place at Liberty Plaza following the silent march at 1:40 p.m.
The memorial acknowledges the more than 63 million innocent children denied
their God-given right to Personhood – that is the right to be recognized as a
person—since Roe v. Wade made abortion legal in 1973.
"Until the day when intentional prenatal abortion is unthinkable and decried as
a great evil," says the President of Georgia Right to Life, Ricardo Davis, "we
will recall the long-term effects of the infamous January 22, 1973 Doe v.
Bolton and Roe v. Wade rulings upon the preborn children of
Georgia and beyond."
The focus of this year's event is equal protection in Georgia for all innocent
human lives, including all preborn children. The keynote speaker is Daphne
Harris Nicely, Executive Director, Atlanta Morning Center, a ministry launched
by Samaritan Ministries International in 2011 out of love for mothers and their
newborns. The Morning Center provides prenatal through postpartum care to
mothers in need, at no charge.
"The life of the mother and the child together have essential value," Daphne
said. "Mothers and babies in the state of Georgia need protection, including
healthy pregnancies, wholesome post-partum care and positive birth outcomes.
It's critical that we provide support services to affirm women and children—so
that they can together live healthy lives now and in the future."
In 2021, there were 34,988 abortions in Georgia. A disproportionate
share—23,424, or 66.9%—were Black babies. In fact, in the state of Georgia,
since 2000, more than 649,263 innocent lives have been lost to abortion.
"I encourage Georgians to join us as we remember those innocent children whose
lives have been violently ended through abortion and rally to demand justice for
our preborn children by way of legal personhood," Davis added.
