GILBERT, Arizona, Nov. 26 /Christian
Newswire/ -- The Board of Directors of Paraclete Mission
Group, Inc. has announced the appointment of Glen Volkhardt
as CEO of the Phoenix-based organization, effective January
1, 2009. Volkhardt came to Paraclete after a 29-year career
with HCJB Global, of Colorado Springs. He will replace Don
Parrott who is stepping down to become the CEO of The
Finishers Project, Inc.
"Paraclete's ministry paradigm is perfect for much of
today's world where the church has experienced recent
phenomenal growth," says Volkhardt. "Many of the historic
'mission fields' now have mature Christian leadership and no
longer need traditional missionaries. But many are looking
for practical help, and that's what we offer." Paraclete
takes its name from the Greek word for "advocate" or one
that comes along side to help. For twenty years it has been
committed to using the come-along-side model to enhance
Kingdom effectiveness in the global missions community.
Paraclete associates are all senior missionaries that serve
as consultants and servants to mission agencies, churches
and Christian organizations worldwide. In the last 90 days
Paraclete associates have served partners in Europe, South,
Central and East Asia, Central and South America, and the
United States.
"Glen comes to the CEO position with just the right
qualifications and experience to lead our team", said Gary
Ginter, Paraclete Board Chairman. "He's a seasoned executive
from a well established Christian mission organization who
understands modern missions." Volkhardt's last two positions
with HCJB were as vice president, first in Human Resources
and then in Strategic Planning. He and his wife, Shelly,
(author of Holy Habits and Kitchen Table Counseling,
NavPress) spent 20 years as missionaries in Ecuador. "My
work in Ecuador was extremely varied," said Volkhardt. "I
got involved in everything from building dams, to putting up
Latin America's first Christian radio satellite
network...from managing multi-million dollar budgets, to
leading street-kids to Christ." Volkhardt has a BA in
Communications from Biola University and an MA in Human
Resource Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. Currently
he serves on the boards of three Christian organizations.
